Day High / Day Low Breakout Buy Sell Signal
When price breaks todayβs high or low and keeps going, it shows strength in that direction. The scanner signals when LTP is at or above the day high (with high > open) or at or below the day low (with low < open).
Open = Low / Open = High Buy Sell Signal
When a stock never trades below its open, it prints O=L (aggressive buying). In O=H it never trades above the open, which means selling from the very start.
Narrow CPR Buy Sell Signal
A CPR width under 0.40% is treated as compression. Such days often become trending days. The full guide is below.
Narrow CPR Buy Sell Signal Strategy: Complete Guide
CPR (Central Pivot Range) is the most popular intraday tool. It is built from the previous dayβs High, Low and Close and gives three key levels for today: Pivot, Top Central (TC) and Bottom Central (BC). A Narrow CPR means the gap between TC and BC is small, i.e. yesterday was compressed. After compression the market is more likely to pick a direction, which is why traders scan for such symbols first thing in the morning.
P = (High + Low + Close) / 3BC = (High + Low) / 2TC = (2 Γ P) β BC|TC β BC| / P Γ 100TC and BC sometimes come out reversed; we always treat the larger one as TC and the smaller one as BC.
Narrow, Normal and Wide CPR compared
| CPR type | Width (guideline) | Meaning | How to trade |
|---|---|---|---|
| Narrow | Below 0.40% (our scanner) | Compression, likely trending day | Trade the breakout side, trail the target |
| Normal | Around 0.40% to 0.75% | Mixed / balanced | Selective trades between levels |
| Wide | Above 0.75% | Likely range-bound day | Reversals from support/resistance, small targets |
The width limit varies by instrument. Indices and large stocks have tighter narrow CPRs; MCX and crypto run wider. The limits above are guidelines only.

Steps to trade a Narrow CPR
- Scan: in the morning, check the Narrow CPR Buy Sell Signal scanner on the right and pick symbols that align with their sector.
- Build a bias: price above TC is bullish, below BC is bearish, inside the CPR means wait.
- Entry: enter only after a 5 or 15 minute candle closes outside the CPR. Do not enter on a mere touch.
- Stop loss: the other edge of the CPR or the last swing high/low. Decide your risk beforehand.
- Target: first target R1 (buy) or S1 (sell), then R2/S2. Book half and trail the rest.
- Exit: leave if price falls back into the CPR, or if the target is not reached by the end of the day.
Most common mistakes
- Assuming every Narrow CPR is a sure breakout. It raises the odds, it does not guarantee.
- Entering repeatedly inside the CPR. Movement inside is choppy.
- Trading without a stop loss, or moving the stop loss.
- Ignoring the index/sector trend. Confirm with the sector ticks above.
- Relying on CPR alone on result days or big-news days.
Narrow CPR FAQ
What is a Narrow CPR?
When the gap between TC and BC is very small compared with the pivot, it is called a Narrow CPR. In our scanner a symbol enters the Narrow CPR list when its width is below 0.40%.
Does a Narrow CPR always give a trending move?
No. A Narrow CPR increases the chance of a trending day, but gaps, news and global cues can change the day. That is why confirmation and a stop loss are essential.
Which timeframe is best?
For intraday, usually 5 and 15 minutes. A 15-minute close is more reliable; 5-minute gives an earlier entry but more false signals.
How do I use CPR and pivot levels together?
CPR gives the dayβs bias and R1, R2, S1, S2 give targets. The level ladder above shows all levels of GAIL in one place.
How live are these signals?
The scanner reads the feed every 2 seconds. Pro shows the full scanner list and alerts; free shows the top setups.
